Today I’m beginning to work on keyboard and game pad support for Galactic Drone to publish the game for PC. The basic functionality is already there, and the main work will be around navigating the menus. You can simply use mouse already, however, I want players to be able to navigate using keyboard and game pad so they didn’t have to switch between those and using a mouse.
Project Rat’s first game ever has now been officially released and is available on Google Play store for free for everyone!
I’ve started working on Galactic Drone on 22nd of February 2018 and gave myself a month to complete it. That, of course, turned out to be a bit too optimistic and, when I realized I won’t be able to develop it in a month, I’ve set a new target of two months. So here we are, still few days past my own deadline, but it’s been two calendar months and Galactic Drone is officially released! I hope you enjoy it and am off to start working on the next project but pssst. It’s a secret 😀 At least for now. Cheers!
A massive update for Galactic Drone (Beta v1.5)! A new ‘Survival’ mode has been added along with online leader boards. Fly as far as you can refilling your battery and get to the top of leader boards! Two new planets have been added, making it complete ten. UI has has also been improved a bit but probably the biggest change is the file size of the game: 89MB. A massive reduction from 239MB it used to be!

Galactic Drone alpha version has now been updated on google play and some cool new features have been added. We now have the ability to use boost. Tap boost button on the left side of the screen for a short burst of speed. Replenish the boost gauge by flying really close to obstacles. A shield pick-up also appears after second planet, making you invincible for a short amount of time when activated by tapping the shield button on the right side of the screen. Combine it with few bursts of boost and you’ve made a lot of progress in the level.
Steering has been improved to feel smoother and to let player be more precise.
A new, faster drone has also been added as well as a new planet: Garron.
The way the level’s difficulty and spanning of obstacles is calculated has been completely changed as there were some issues with the way it worked before.
Non-invasive, banner ads are now displayed beneath the in-game menu.
All-in-all there’s always a room for improvement.
This started as (and it still is) a simple game but there is always work that can be done to make it better. That said, if all goes well, Galactic Drone should be available to everyone as open beta on Google Play store by the end of this weekend (25 mar 2018).
A new planet has been added to the game: Taskam. Race in the underground caves and avoid rocks. A new drone has also been added. I’ve made some general UI improvements like different colours for the progress bar and an icon for the in-game menu. The camera aspect ratio has been corrected for phones with unusual, wider screen sizes like Samsung Galaxy S8, where you’d have black bars on the sides of the screen in main menu.
